Today, Nomics Care, a Belgian MedTech company, announced the expansion of its operations into the Midlands, UK.
Supported by AWEX (Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency), Medilink Midland, West Midlands Growth Company and the West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator (WMHTIA), this move strategically positions Nomics at the forefront of sleep medicine innovation, especially in the diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Hypopnoea Syndrome (OSAHS).
This expansion comes at a crucial time as recent draft guidelines from The National Institue for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) underscore the importance of innovative, home-based diagnostic devices in identifying Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Hypopnoea Syndrome (OSAHS), a serious condition that is underdiagnosed, affecting an estimated 2.5 million adults in the UK. By establishing a base in the Midlands, known for its robust MedTech ecosystem and governmental support, Nomics aims to leverage local expertise and infrastructure to enhance its unique solution, the Augmented Polygraphy, for diagnosing sleep-related breathing disorders.
"The Midlands represents a strategic choice for Nomics, positioning us at the heart of one of the most dynamic health tech sectors in Europe. The launch of our office there is more than an expansion; it’s an integration into an ecosystem rich in innovation and support. With vital backing from such entities, we're poised to push the boundaries of sleep medicine and make it accessible to everyone. Our technology, especially in light of recent draft recommendations, aims to set new standards for diagnosing sleep apnoea, offering patients non-invasive, accurate, and user-friendly options right in their homes.” said Didier Leclercq, CEO of Nomics
